The Haiku Coral House occupies a generous 2 acre 3 villa 6 bedroom gated compound overlooking the ocean and Maliko Gulch on the Northshore of Maui.
Throughout the property tropical rain forest birds sing. This property is a Hawaiian vacation fantasy playground. It's private clay tennis court, salt water swimming pool, lush green gardens, palm tree lined entry lane, and spacious manicured grounds are set just outside of the typical rain band. Each time we have visited sunny skies filled the deep blue sky. We love the location of this home as it is just far enough away from towns and crowds to have a sense of rural tranquility yet only minutes to sandy swimming beaches, the Northshore's dramatic coastline, all types of recreation including hiking, swimming at waterfalls, ocean sports, and horseback riding. Some rental homes in Haiku experience frequent showers, however the Coral House is in a privileged location we consider to be superior to that of some others.
Haiku Coral House is uniquely crafted with it's 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms in 3 separate private dwellings, the main house, the bungalow, and the suite. Throughout all 3 homes is beautiful off-white natural coral stone walls, double pitch roof, whimsical decorative touches, shabby chic décor, creative furnishings, and contemporary electronics.
From the property there are panoramic distant ocean views which despite many attempts, we were not able to adequately capture in photos - it is that lovely!
An overhanging deck runs across the front of the main house where a deluxe gas grill, teak outdoor dining furniture and Balinese loungers are thoughtfully provided for outdoor relaxation. The main house has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fantasy outdoor shower, gourmet kitchen with superb Miele, Bosch, Thermador, and Sub-Zero appliances, and spacious living/dining room with down filled sofas. Other amenities include fax, telephone with answering machine, cable TV, VCR, DVD/CD stereo, coral rock floors, and ceiling fans.
The Coral House Guest Bungalow also has coral rock walls, painted concrete floors, dazzling lapis kitchen counters, a garden view overlooking the tropical gulch, small garden, outdoor porch, kitchen with granite counters, deluxe appliances including a Sub-Zero fridge, living area with television and CD Stereo, Phone, 2 bedrooms, 1 attractively tiled bathroom, BBQ, sun lounge chairs, and teak outdoor dining furniture.
The Coral House Guest Suite is in a 3rd separate dwelling and provides a private tiled bathroom and queen bed in a sleeping alcove, small kitchen, BBQ grill, sun lounge chairs, picnic table, small sun deck, slate floors, some ocean view, tennis court and garden views.
Nearby Haiku is an adorable small rural community with great shops, several salons and spas, ethnic dining, yoga studios, grocery, bakery, pizza joint, doctor, pharmacy, gym, farmers market, and small boutiques. Uphill is the historic cowboy and western theme town of Makawao. Again, it provides more delicious dining options, a nightclub, casual sports bar, and even more unique boutique stores. Paia, well known as a stop over on the road to Hana is also just minutes away. There guests will find many convenient services such as Post Office and Bank as well as dozens of small trendy restaurants and shops selling custom clothing and Hawaiian made gifts and art.
Hookipa Beach, Baldwin Beach, Baby Beach and Tavares Bay are just minutes away where you may swim, snorkel, surf, kite surf, boogie board, and windsurf to your absolute content. Northshore homes are a great launching site for touring in rural upcountry Maui including journeys to the top of Haleakala Crater, Waterfall hikes at Twin Falls, Stream hiking in Iao Valley, and the remote jungles of Hana.
